The Raymarine i50 Speed System is a dedicated boat-speed and log package for cruising sailboats, cabin cruisers, and coastal yachts. It combines an i50 digital display with a P120 retractable through-hull paddlewheel sensor, giving the helm a clear speed-through-water reading without using a larger chartplotter page. This is a practical instrument for boats where speed and trip data deserve their own display.

The display can show current speed, maximum and average speed, trip distance, total log, and water temperature. The P120 uses a 51mm hull opening and includes a 30-foot shielded cable, so the installation needs careful access and sealing. SeaTalkng and NMEA 2000 connect the instrument to the boat network, while IPX8 protection covers the submerged sensor. The system draws up to 125mA and is intended for a permanent through-hull installation.

Who Is This For?

This Raymarine speed instrument package suits cruising sailboats, coastal displacement yachts, cabin cruisers, and 20- to 45-foot fiberglass boats. It is not ideal for trailer boats or buyers unwilling to install a through-hull sensor, and it does not provide charting or imaging sonar.

Warranty & Support

Raymarine provides a 2-year standard warranty, or 3 years with registration as listed in the supplied specifications. Warranty exclusions and service procedures were not provided.

The i50 Speed System is the right choice when the boat needs a permanent speed-through-water display rather than another multifunction screen. The trade-off is installation effort: the P120 needs a 51mm through-hull opening and careful sealing. Choose it for dependable speed and log data, not as a substitute for a chartplotter or fishfinder.
