Simrad RF300 Rudder Feedback

Measuring rudder angle geometry without potentiometer dead zones, a Simrad RF300 marine autopilot sensor transmits 2-wire variable frequency signals across a +/- 90-degree range to NAC-2, NAC-3, and AC70 processors at 12V.

  • Variable frequency sensing measures 90-degree rudder angles
  • Non-contact sensor architecture prevents mechanical wear
  • IP56-rated polymer housing protects internal circuitry
  • Includes 10-meter cable for long-run bilges

Provide accurate rudder-angle data to a compatible Simrad autopilot with the Simrad RF300 Rudder Feedback Unit. This mechanical feedback sensor connects to the rudder post or tiller arm through its supplied transmission linkage and 10 m cable, helping the autopilot determine the actual rudder angle for smoother and more accurate automatic steering. The RF300 is designed for inboard-engine vessels and is commonly included with commercial Simrad autopilot systems. [256][257]

The RF300 uses a two-wire frequency-feedback connection and is intended for NAC-3 or AC70-class autopilot-computer installations; Simrad specifically identifies it as a two-wire feedback unit for NAC-3 systems where running NMEA 2000 to the rudder area is impractical. It is a sensing device only, not a steering drive, pump, or standalone autopilot. [253][254]

Before Ordering

Confirm the existing autopilot computer is compatible with the RF300 frequency-feedback interface, verify access to the rudder post or tiller arm, measure cable-routing distance against the supplied 10 m cable, check full rudder-travel geometry, and ensure a protected IP56-appropriate mounting location before purchase.
