Garmin GPSMAP 1042xsv Combo GPS/Fishfinder GN+

Sitting between the pure commercial-control GPSMAP 1242xsv and the full touchscreen xsv models, the GPSMAP 1042xsv GN+ keeps physical keyed controls on a 10.1-inch display while still shipping with Garmin Navionics+ charts preloaded for US and Canadian waters.

Who This Is For

Fits anglers who want physical button reliability in wet or gloved conditions but still want charts preloaded out of the box rather than sourcing them separately. It’s a step down in screen size from the GPSMAP 1242xsv if commercial-grade ruggedness is the priority, and a step away from touch convenience if that matters more than physical controls.

Warranty & Support

Covered by Garmin’s 2-Year Limited Consumer Warranty (USA).

Against the 1242xsv, this trades commercial-grade positioning and Live Sonar Network confirmation for preloaded charts and a mid-size screen — a reasonable trade for recreational anglers who want keyed controls without needing the heavier-duty commercial specification.
