The Simrad AP70 MK2 AC80S Solenoid Autopilot IMO Pack, SKU 000-14903-001, is a commercial autopilot package for vessels with compatible solenoid-controlled steering gear and constant-running hydraulic pumps. It includes the AP70 MK2 professional autopilot control head and AC80S solenoid course computer, providing a dedicated interface for controlling up to two independent steering systems through four solenoid drive channels. A compatible heading sensor, steering solenoids, hydraulic pump, feedback equipment, and vessel-specific installation hardware are required separately.
The AP70 MK2 is designed for Wheelmark and IMO-compliant applications when installed as part of an approved complete vessel steering system. It supports 12V or 24V supply arrangements, NMEA 2000 or SimNet networking, dual NMEA 0183 interfaces, and compatible marine CAN-bus connections. Compliance depends on the full installation, steering-gear design, alarms, redundancy, testing, class approval, and flag-state requirements.
System Integration
This is not a complete steering system. It requires a compatible constant-running pump, correctly matched steering solenoids, hydraulic equipment, heading sensor, rudder-feedback arrangement where required, power supply, alarms, changeover functions, and network layout. The AC80S controls solenoid circuits; it does not replace the vessel’s hydraulic pump, steering gear, or safety systems.
For an IMO or SOLAS installation, professional design and commissioning are required. Confirm the steering-gear command logic, valve voltage and current, hydraulic pressure and flow, required redundancy, steering mode changes, alarm functions, feedback method, and all class or flag-state requirements before selecting this package.
