The Furuno DRS6A-NXT Solid-State Doppler Radar System is a 3.5-foot open-array radar package for compatible Furuno NavNet TZtouch, TZtouch2, and TZtouch3 multifunction displays. It combines a 25W solid-state pulse-compression pedestal, 3.5-foot open-array antenna, and 15 m signal cable to provide Target Analyzer Doppler processing, Fast Target Tracking, Bird Mode, RezBoost beam sharpening, and longer-range radar coverage. The narrow open-array beam helps improve angular target separation compared with a compact radome.

The system provides a maximum instrumented range of up to 72 NM and a typical 2.3-degree horizontal beamwidth, with an effective narrower beam available through RezBoost in supported configurations. It operates from 12V or 24V DC and supports 24, 36, and 48 RPM rotation speeds; dual-range operation is limited to 24 RPM. Practical target detection depends on installation height, array clearance, weather, sea state, radar settings, target size, heading data, and local interference.

Radar Integration

The DRS6A-NXT requires a compatible Furuno NavNet MFD and Furuno Ethernet connection for radar-video display and scanner control. NMEA 2000 can supply compatible GPS, heading, AIS, autopilot, and sensor data, but it is not the radar-video connection. Confirm display compatibility, software version, available Ethernet port, supplied 15 m cable-route suitability, and any required network accessories before purchase.

Target Analyzer Doppler can help highlight approaching and receding targets, while Bird Mode and Fast Target Tracking depend on display configuration, target conditions, radar settings, and antenna installation. Radar overlay and tracking functions require compatible heading and position data where applicable. Radar is a navigation aid and does not replace a proper lookout, safe speed, official charts, local notices, or collision-regulation compliance.

Warranty and Saltwater Care

Furuno warranty coverage varies by region, distributor, proof of purchase, product registration, installation method, commissioning status, and intended use. Confirm applicable local warranty terms, exclusions, and authorized-service requirements before purchase.

The scanner is designed for marine exposure and has IP56 ingress protection, but this does not guarantee immunity from saltwater corrosion. Rinse salt deposits with fresh water where appropriate, avoid high-pressure spray at cable glands and antenna joints, inspect the pedestal, radiator array, mounting hardware, fasteners, cable seals, and platform regularly, and use compatible marine-grade hardware plus suitable isolation methods to reduce galvanic-corrosion risk.

Before Ordering

Confirm compatible Furuno NavNet TZtouch, TZtouch2, or TZtouch3 MFD support, Furuno Ethernet radar network, suitability of the included 15 m cable route, 12V or 24V supply, 3.5-foot array rotation clearance, mounting-platform strength, mounting height, personnel and compass-safe-distance requirements, heading and GPS source for overlay or tracking, optional AIS integration, software compatibility, and qualified installation requirements before purchase.
