Build a commercial-capable radar system around the Furuno FAR1513 Black Box Radar, a 12 kW magnetron platform designed for an external open array and dedicated display/network installation. Its processor-based architecture gives installers flexibility to match a 4-foot, 6-foot, or 8-foot X-band antenna to the vessel’s required beamwidth, mounting space, and operating range. Need high-power radar processing without a built-in display? The FAR1513 supports dual-range viewing, target tracking, AIS overlays, Ethernet connectivity, and up to 96 NM of instrumented range when completed with compatible Furuno components.

Integration

The FAR1513 is a black-box radar processor, not a complete radar package. It requires a compatible antenna/scanner assembly, radar display or approved monitor, required power components, Ethernet network, and navigation sensors. Position, speed, heading, AIS, and other inputs determine the availability and quality of overlays, target tracking, and display modes.

The selected antenna affects beamwidth, installation space, and target separation. The 96 NM figure is an instrumented range, not a guaranteed detection distance; scanner elevation, target size, weather, rain, sea state, clutter, system calibration, and installation quality determine real-world results.

Before Ordering
