Furuno NavPilot 300/PG Autopilot System w/PG700 Sensor

Navigating coastal waters with gesture-based steering, the Furuno NavPilot 300/PG marine autopilot uses a Bluetooth controller and PG700 sensor to actuate 1.0L-to-1.7L hydraulic pumps via Fantum Feedback algorithms across 12V or 24V networks.

  • Bluetooth gesture unit enables point-and-shoot steering
  • PG700 compass tracks dynamic heading changes
  • Fantum Feedback eliminates physical rudder sensors
  • PWM controller drives pumps up to 1.7L
  • IP56 control head resists salt spray

The Furuno NavPilot 300/PG Autopilot System with PG700 Sensor combines the NavPilot 300 controller and processor architecture with Furuno’s PG700 rate-compensated heading sensor. It is intended for compatible hydraulic-steering applications, including outboards and sterndrives, and supports 12V or 24V DC systems. The package includes the NavPilot 300 gesture controller, PG700 compass sensor, and required cabling, while a compatible steering pump and vessel-specific hydraulic installation remain necessary.

The PG700 combines an electromagnetic fluxgate compass with a solid-state rate gyroscope to improve heading stability. Furuno specifies ±1.0° heading accuracy when horizontal, 0.1° heading resolution, and follow-up capability for rates of turn up to 100° per second. It connects through Furuno CAN bus and can be mounted on a bulkhead or deck using its standard L-bracket. [269][270][276]

System Integration

The NavPilot 300/PG package does not eliminate the need to correctly size the hydraulic pump, steering cylinder, hoses, fittings, power wiring, and circuit protection. Confirm whether the vessel requires a 1.0 L, 1.2 L, or another compatible pump arrangement based on steering-cylinder volume and desired hardover time.

Furuno Fantum Feedback can reduce or remove the need for a separate physical rudder-feedback sensor in some compatible hydraulic installations, but the PG700 remains a heading sensor rather than a rudder-angle sensor. Mount the PG700 clear of magnetic interference, vibration, high-current wiring, and magnetic equipment, then calibrate it during the required sea trial. [274]

Before Ordering

Confirm hydraulic steering compatibility, pump size, steering-cylinder volume, 12V or 24V power, 20A output requirement, control-head mounting space, PG700 sensor location, NMEA 2000 and CAN-bus compatibility, hydraulic fitting and hose requirements, and the vessel’s complete autopilot installation plan before purchase.
