The Garmin GNX 20 is a compact NMEA 2000 marine instrument display for showing wind, depth, speed, heading, voltage, and navigation data from compatible network sources. Its 4-inch monochrome screen fits a standard instrument panel, while the optically bonded glass and multi-color backlighting keep the display readable in different light. It is a data repeater, not a chartplotter.
The GNX 20 draws 35mA in normal operation and up to 100mA at full brightness, keeping the load low on a 12V NMEA 2000 network. It can be flush mounted or used on a flat panel, and IPX7 protection suits exposed cockpit positions. Because it relies on remote NMEA 2000 data, the boat must already have compatible wind, depth, speed, heading, or engine sources. It does not measure these values by itself.
Who Is This For?
This NMEA 2000 instrument display suits sailboats, cruisers, offshore center consoles, and luxury sport yachts that need a compact data repeater. It is not ideal for buyers wanting built-in sensors, charts, radar, or sonar imaging.
Warranty & Support
The supplied specifications do not state a warranty term. Confirm current Garmin warranty coverage before purchase.
The GNX 20 is the right choice when a boat needs a small, low-power display for data already available on its NMEA 2000 network. Its trade-off is that it depends entirely on those external sensors and instruments. Choose it as a wind, depth, or engine-data repeater, not as a standalone navigation or fishfinding unit.
