Garmin GPSMAP 8412xsv 12 Chartplotter/Sounder Combo w/Worldwide Basemap & Sonar

The Garmin GPSMAP 8412xsv is a 12-inch Full HD IPS touchscreen chartplotter and sounder with dual-channel 1kW CHIRP, ClearVü, and SideVü sonar processing. It includes a Worldwide Basemap rather than detailed regional charts, and no transducer is included. NMEA 2000, J1939, dual Garmin Network ports, WiFi, and ANT+ support a connected Garmin installation for larger boats.

Who Is This For?

This unit suits offshore fishing boats, coastal cruisers, larger center consoles, and multi-display Garmin installations where a 12-inch Full HD screen is useful. Its network connections make it suitable for a planned marine electronics system.

It is not ideal for small boats with limited dash space or buyers who need a ready-to-use chart and sonar package. The Worldwide Basemap is not detailed regional chart coverage, and the transducer must be selected separately.

Warranty & Support

Garmin provides a 2-year limited consumer warranty. The supplied specifications do not state warranty exclusions or service procedures.

The GPSMAP 8412xsv is the largest and highest-resolution display in this group, making it the better choice for a larger helm and frequent split-screen use. Its dual-channel 1kW CHIRP, ClearVü, SideVü, and broad Garmin networking provide a strong system platform. The trade-off is the incomplete navigation package: detailed charts and a compatible transducer must be added separately, so it suits a planned installation rather than a ready-to-fish bundle.
