The Raymarine ACU-400 Actuator Control Unit is a high-current Evolution autopilot drive controller for compatible Type 2 and Type 3 hydraulic pumps, linear drives, rotary drives, and approved high-capacity mechanical actuators. It provides the power interface between the selected steering drive and a compatible Raymarine Evolution system using an EV-1 sensor core and p70-series control head. This is an actuator control unit only, not a complete autopilot system.

The ACU-400 supports 12V or 24V DC systems and provides up to 30A continuous drive output. It measures approximately 285 mm by 211 mm, weighs 2.2 kg, and requires dry protected bulkhead mounting. The package includes SeaTalkng spur cabling and mounting hardware, while the drive, sensor core, control display, power circuit, feedback components, and vessel-specific installation materials are separate requirements.

System Integration

The ACU-400 must be matched to a steering drive that requires more capacity than an ACU-100 or ACU-200 can supply. Select the drive according to vessel displacement, steering type, hydraulic-cylinder volume, pump flow, rudder load, current demand, duty cycle, clutch requirements, and manual-override arrangement.

Virtual Rudder Feedback may be used on suitable Evolution system installations, but some hydraulic, mechanical, linear-drive, and commercial steering arrangements require a physical rudder-feedback transducer. Confirm feedback requirements and the selected drive’s full electrical specifications before installation.

Before Ordering
