The Simrad A2004 Autopilot Pack with Control Display is a professional autopilot solution built around the A2004 color control display and a compatible Simrad autopilot computer. It is intended for larger recreational, commercial, and workboat installations using properly matched hydraulic pumps, solenoid steering, mechanical drives, or integrated thruster-control arrangements. The A2004 is a helm control interface and does not directly power a steering drive.

The system supports 12V or 24V installations and uses NMEA 2000 Micro-C networking with NMEA 0183 connectivity through the selected course computer. It can work with compatible Precision-9, GPS compass, or other approved heading sources, plus physical or networked rudder feedback where required. Confirm the exact pack contents because controller-only and complete-pack versions can differ in their included course computer, feedback sensor, and compass.

System Integration

The A2004 controller is part of a complete autopilot architecture, not a standalone steering controller. Drive capacity depends on the selected AC70, AC80, NAC-3, or other compatible Simrad course computer. Match the computer to the actual pump, motor, linear drive, rotary drive, solenoid, or thruster current and duty-cycle requirements.

For commercial and high-load installations, verify steering-gear compatibility, redundancy requirements, feedback sensor type, heading-source accuracy, network design, and applicable regulatory requirements. The A2004 display can show and control system functions, but safe operation depends on the correctly installed complete autopilot system.
