The Simrad HALO20+ 20 Radar Dome with 10 m Cable is a solid-state pulse-compression marine radar radome for compatible Simrad multifunction displays. The 20-inch enclosed radar scanner uses VelocityTrack Doppler technology to help identify approaching and diverging targets with color highlighting, while dual-range operation enables short-range and longer-range views at the same time. The package includes a 10 m radar power and Ethernet cable for standard hardtop, cabin, arch, or mast installation routes.

The HALO20+ provides a manufacturer-rated maximum instrumented range of 36 NM, 4.9-degree horizontal beamwidth, and rotation speeds up to 60 RPM. It requires a compatible Simrad display, Ethernet radar connection, correctly sized 12V or 24V power circuit, and a safe radar mounting location. Actual target detection depends on the scanner installation, antenna height, target characteristics, weather, sea state, radar configuration, and local interference.

Radar Integration

The HALO20+ requires a compatible Simrad chartplotter or multifunction display and Ethernet connection for radar video and control. NMEA 2000 can support connected GPS, heading, AIS, autopilot, and sensor data, but it does not carry radar video. Confirm compatible display family, software version, Ethernet port, radar cable, and required network adapters before ordering.

MARPA and radar-overlay functions require compatible heading and GPS data where applicable. VelocityTrack Doppler can help highlight moving targets, but its effectiveness depends on target motion, radar settings, sea clutter, precipitation, scanner mounting, and operating conditions. Radar is a navigation aid and does not replace a proper lookout, safe speed, official charts, local notices, or collision-regulation compliance.

Warranty and Saltwater Care

Simrad warranty coverage varies by region, distributor, proof of purchase, product registration, installation method, and intended use. Confirm the applicable local warranty terms, exclusions, registration requirements, and service process before purchase.

The scanner is designed for marine use and has IPX6 ingress protection, but an IP rating does not guarantee immunity from saltwater corrosion. Rinse salt deposits with fresh water where appropriate, avoid high-pressure spray at the cable gland and connectors, inspect mounting hardware and cable seals regularly, and use compatible marine-grade fasteners plus approved isolation methods to reduce galvanic-corrosion risk.

Before Ordering

Confirm compatible Simrad MFD support, Ethernet radar connection, suitability of the supplied 10 m cable route, 10.5V to 31.2V power supply, radar mounting platform, clear 20-inch scanner rotation area, mounting height, personnel and compass-safe-distance requirements, heading and GPS source for MARPA or overlay, optional AIS integration, display software compatibility, and qualified installation requirements before purchase.
