Simrad R3016 Radar Control Unit Display – 16

The Simrad R3016 Radar Control Unit is a dedicated 16-inch radar display and control interface for compatible Simrad HALO, Broadband 3G or 4G, HD Digital, and R5000-series radar scanners. It combines an integrated widescreen display, full keypad, and rotary control dial for radar operation at a helm, bridge, or secondary control station. This is a radar display only and does not include a radar scanner, radar antenna, power cable, heading sensor, GPS source, radar mount, or complete radar network.

The R3016 uses a 16-inch 1366 by 768 widescreen display and supports Ethernet radar connection, NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, and HDMI video output. It supports functions such as guard zones, trails, target tracking, and compatible MARPA operation when used with the correct scanner, heading sensor, position source, and network configuration. MARPA tracks up to 10 targets when all system requirements are met.

Radar Integration

The R3016 requires a separately selected compatible Simrad radar scanner, radar Ethernet connection, DC power supply, and correctly configured display network. NMEA 2000 can provide compatible heading, GPS, AIS, autopilot, and sensor data, while radar video and scanner control use Ethernet. A heading sensor and GPS source are required for functions such as radar overlay and MARPA tracking where applicable.

The display does not transmit radar energy, detect targets, provide a built-in GPS receiver, or replace a chartplotter without connected compatible equipment. Radar performance is determined by the selected scanner, antenna, mounting, operating environment, and system configuration. Radar is a navigation aid and does not replace a proper lookout, safe speed, official charts, local notices, or collision-regulation compliance.

Warranty and Saltwater Care

Simrad warranty coverage varies by region, distributor, proof of purchase, registration status, installation method, and intended use. Confirm the applicable local warranty terms, exclusions, and service process before purchase.

The R3016 front panel has IPX7 ingress protection, but an IP rating does not guarantee protection from saltwater corrosion. Rinse salt deposits with fresh water where appropriate, avoid high-pressure spray at the display edge and rear connectors, inspect mounting hardware, panel gasket, cable glands, and electrical connections regularly, and use compatible marine-grade fasteners and isolation methods to reduce galvanic-corrosion risk.
