Support commercial Class A AIS operations with the Raymarine AIS4000, a dedicated transceiver with selectable 12.5W or 1W transmission, an integrated color display, and professional bridge-system connectivity. Its SOTDMA protocol, GNSS antenna, pilot plug, and multiple NMEA interfaces make it suited to commercial vessels that need frequent AIS reporting and direct integration with compatible navigation electronics. Need a dedicated Class A AIS station rather than a basic black-box unit? The AIS4000 provides a 3.5-inch color display, Ethernet, NMEA 2000, and multiple NMEA 0183 connections for qualified installations.

Integration

The AIS4000 requires a properly designed Class A AIS installation, including suitable AIS/VHF antenna arrangements, an external GNSS antenna, valid MMSI/static vessel-data programming, and compatible bridge or ECDIS equipment. It is not a VHF voice radio, radar, chartplotter, emergency beacon, or replacement for bridge watchkeeping.

Class A AIS may be legally required based on vessel type, tonnage, operating area, flag state, and other regulations. Confirm certification status, U.S. FCC/USCG requirements, and applicable international rules before purchase and activation. AIS data depends on VHF coverage and other vessels transmitting valid information.

Before Ordering

Confirm Class A regulatory and certification requirements, MMSI and licensing status, VHF/AIS antenna design, GNSS antenna placement, ECDIS/MFD compatibility, NMEA/Ethernet/pilot-plug needs, power capacity, and professional commissioning requirements before ordering.
