The Raymarine EV-100 Wheel Evolution Autopilot is a complete autopilot package for compatible wheel-steered sailboats up to 7,500 kg, or 16,500 lb, displacement. It includes an externally mounted wheel drive, ACU-100 actuator control unit, EV-1 nine-axis sensor core, p70s color control head, and Evolution network components. The wheel drive mounts around the steering wheel and uses a clutch mechanism to allow manual steering takeover when the pilot is disengaged.

The system operates from 12V DC, and the ACU-100 provides up to 7A continuous drive output for the supplied wheel drive. The p70s offers a 3.5-inch color display with button-based autopilot control, while the EV-1 monitors heading, pitch, roll, and yaw. It is intended for compatible wheel-steered sailboats; confirm wheel size, pedestal configuration, steering load, vessel displacement, and full manual steering operation before purchase.

System Integration

This is a complete wheel-pilot package but is not intended for hydraulic steering, tiller steering, heavy linear-drive systems, or electronic steer-by-wire systems. Verify the vessel uses a compatible wheel-steering pedestal, that the wheel-drive clamp and belt arrangement fit correctly, and that steering loads remain appropriate for the system.

Virtual Rudder Feedback may be used on suitable wheel-steered sailboats, but correct feedback requirements depend on the vessel steering configuration. The autopilot requires proper EV-1 sensor placement, SeaTalkng wiring, secure ACU-100 installation, and a protected 12V supply.

Before Ordering

Confirm a compatible wheel-steered sailboat up to 16,500 lb, suitable wheel and pedestal fitment, manageable steering load, 12V supply, 7A ACU-100 drive capacity, p70s helm mounting space, EV-1 sensor location, SeaTalkng network, physical-feedback requirement if applicable, clutch access, and complete installation requirements before purchase.
