Raymarine EV-400 Power Evolution Autopilot
High-tonnage motor yachts and commercial cruisers navigate heavy following seas with this Raymarine EV-400 Power marine autopilot, delivering 30A continuous output from an ACU-400 computer to drive Type 2 and Type 3 pumps across 12V-24V grids.
- 30A continuous output drives high-capacity pumps
- EV-1 sensor core eliminates compass calibration
- p70Rs rotary controller allows fine heading adjustments
- Dual 12V/24V compatibility fits large vessels
The Raymarine EV-400 Power Evolution Autopilot is a high-capacity autopilot electronics pack for larger powerboats with compatible hydraulic or mechanical steering. It includes a p70Rs control head, EV-1 nine-axis sensor core, ACU-400 high-current actuator control unit, and Evolution cabling kit, but it does not include a steering drive. A separately selected Type 2 or Type 3 hydraulic pump, linear drive, rotary drive, or other approved actuator is required.
The ACU-400 supports 12V or 24V systems and delivers up to 30A continuous drive output, making it suitable for higher-current steering actuators that exceed the capacity of smaller Evolution ACUs. The p70Rs provides a rotary-dial autopilot control interface, while the EV-1 sensor core supplies heading and motion data. Confirm the actual steering system, drive load, hydraulic-cylinder volume where applicable, and complete installation requirements before purchase.
System Integration
This is a core autopilot package rather than a complete steering system. Select the drive unit based on actual steering type, vessel displacement, hydraulic-cylinder volume, system pressure, required rudder force, drive-current demand, and manual-override requirements. The selected actuator must remain within the ACU-400’s 30A continuous output rating.
Virtual Rudder Feedback may reduce the need for a separate physical rudder-feedback sensor on suitable installations, but it is not appropriate for every vessel or steering configuration. Verify whether the installed steering system requires physical feedback before ordering the complete system.
Before Ordering
Confirm vessel steering type, selected Type 2 or Type 3 pump or approved mechanical drive, hydraulic-cylinder volume and pressure where applicable, 12V or 24V supply, 30A continuous drive capacity, ACU-400 mounting space, p70Rs helm-panel space, EV-1 sensor location, SeaTalkng network, feedback requirement, circuit protection, and all required drive and installation components before purchase.
