Simrad AP70 Mk2 IMO Pack (Analog)

Commercial tanker bridges and tugs steer large hydraulic rudders via the Simrad AP70 Mk2 IMO commercial autopilot, which routes analog 4-20mA signals through an AD80 interface to drive constant-running pumps inside an IPX6 aluminum housing.

  • SOLAS and Wheelmark type approvals ensure compliance
  • AD80 interface outputs analog 4-20mA control
  • Drives heavy commercial steering solenoid systems
  • Dual NMEA 0183 ports receive gyrocompass data
  • Die-cast aluminum chassis withstands commercial bridges

The Simrad AP70 Mk2 IMO Pack (Analog), SKU 000-15042-001, is a professional autopilot control and analog-drive interface package for commercial vessels. It includes the AP70 Mk2 autopilot controller and AC80A analog computer, allowing integration with compatible analog voltage, current, hydraulic-pump, solenoid, control, and handshake steering systems. This is not a complete steering system; the vessel’s drive unit, heading source, feedback equipment, and installation hardware must be selected separately.

The AP70 Mk2 is Wheelmarked for SOLAS vessel use and supports installations with up to six drives, rudders, or thrusters in applicable system configurations. It supports common commercial steering arrangements including rudders, waterjets, azipods, Voith-Schneider drives, and outboards when paired with the correct compatible interface and steering equipment. Confirm regulatory requirements, the actual steering system, analog signal type, output range, network architecture, and approved installation design before purchase.

System Integration

This package requires a compatible vessel steering drive, heading sensor, rudder-feedback arrangement, appropriate analog signal interface, power supply, and network layout. The AC80A must be matched to the steering gear’s actual command protocol, such as 1V, 5V, 10V, or 4-20mA analog signals, as well as required control and handshake circuits.

IMO and SOLAS compliance depends on the complete vessel installation, approved equipment configuration, redundancy design, alarms, steering-gear interface, and regulatory approval—not solely on the presence of an AP70 Mk2 controller. Use qualified commercial-marine installation and commissioning procedures.

Before Ordering

Confirm the vessel steering type, required analog voltage or current command signal, compatible hydraulic pump or solenoid system, heading sensor, rudder-feedback method, number of drives or thrusters, 12V or 24V power architecture, NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 requirements, AP70 Mk2 bridge-panel space, AC80A protected mounting location, and applicable IMO, SOLAS, class, and flag-state requirements before purchase.
