Install the Raymarine Type 1 Linear Drive 12V as an electromechanical steering actuator for compatible mechanically steered sailboats. It produces up to 650 lb, or 295 kg, peak thrust through a 300 mm, or 12-inch, linear stroke. The drive is intended for sailboats up to 24,000 lb, or 11,000 kg, and connects to a suitable steering quadrant or tiller arm through a bolted linear-drive linkage.

The 12V permanent-magnet motor draws approximately 2A to 5A during typical operation and up to 15A under peak load. The 8.5 kg drive uses a hard-anodized alloy body and steel rod, with IPX6 splash protection. It is a drive-only component and needs a compatible course computer, control head, heading sensor, rudder-feedback arrangement where required, and complete installation hardware.

Before Ordering
