Equip a commercial vessel with Class A AIS reporting and bridge-level data connections using a Furuno Class A AIS Transponder. Its SOTDMA transmission protocol, adaptive 12.5W/1W output, integrated color control display, and multiple NMEA interfaces are intended for vessels that require frequent AIS reports and professional navigation-system integration. Need a Class A AIS station with robust external connections? This Furuno transponder supports NMEA 2000, Ethernet, six NMEA 0183 ports, integrated GNSS, and Bridge Alert Management readiness.

Integration

This Class A transponder requires an approved VHF AIS antenna or compliant splitter, properly installed GNSS antenna, programmed vessel static data, MMSI, and connection to compatible bridge equipment. It is not a radar, chartplotter, VHF voice radio, EPIRB, or guaranteed collision-avoidance system.

Class A AIS use can be mandatory for certain vessel types and operating areas, and installation must comply with applicable FCC, U.S. Coast Guard, flag-state, and SOLAS requirements. AIS data depends on other vessels transmitting accurate information, so it must be used alongside radar, charts, visual lookout, and safe navigation procedures.

Before Ordering

Confirm Class A regulatory requirements, MMSI and licensing status, AIS antenna/splitter design, GNSS antenna location, bridge-system compatibility, NMEA/Ethernet needs, protected installation space, 12V/24V supply, and professional commissioning requirements before ordering.
