Navico NAIS-500 Class B AIS w/GPS-500 Antenna
Transmitting vessel identification and coordinates to surrounding traffic, a Navico NAIS-500 AIS transceiver bundles an external GPS-500 antenna, drawing under 200mA at 12V across an IPX7 submersible black-box casing at 0.25 kg.
- 2W Class B transmission alerts vessels
- Draws under 200mA preserving battery reserves
- Included GPS-500 antenna ensures satellite lock
- NMEA 2000 bus shares navigation telemetry
Add AIS transmit-and-receive capability to a Simrad, Lowrance, B&G, or compatible NMEA network with the Navico NAIS-500 Class B AIS Transceiver and GPS-500 Antenna. Its 2W CSTDMA transmission, compact footprint, and low current draw make it well suited to sailing boats, center consoles, and cruisers that want their vessel position shared with other AIS-equipped traffic. Need AIS data at the chartplotter without a large dedicated display? The NAIS-500 connects through NMEA 2000, high-speed NMEA 0183, and USB while the included GPS-500 antenna provides the required GNSS source.
Integration
The NAIS-500 requires a dedicated VHF AIS antenna or a suitable approved VHF/AIS splitter, correct MMSI programming, and connection to a compatible MFD or navigation device to display AIS targets. It is not a radar, chartplotter, emergency beacon, or collision-avoidance guarantee.
AIS target availability depends on other vessels transmitting valid data and on VHF reception conditions. Class B transmission and reporting requirements differ from Class A AIS, so confirm vessel-registration, licensing, MMSI, and regulatory requirements before activating the transceiver.
Before Ordering
Confirm Class B AIS suitability, MMSI and licensing requirements, VHF antenna or splitter selection, GPS-500 antenna placement, NMEA 2000/NMEA 0183 compatibility, available 12V/24V power, and required programming support before ordering.
