The Octopus Type S Straight Shaft Mechanical Drive with 90° Bezel Kit is a compact behind-dash mechanical autopilot drive for compatible standard push-pull steering cables. Its straight-shaft design is suited to helm consoles where an angled or tilt steering shaft is not required. The package includes a 90-degree bezel kit and mounting hardware for the stated flush-mount mechanical-drive configuration.
The 12V reversing gear motor delivers up to 150 lb of cable thrust, typically draws 3A to 5A, and can reach 12A under maximum load. It requires about 210 mm of behind-dash depth and weighs 3.9 kg, or 8.6 lb. This component is a steering drive only and requires a compatible autopilot computer, heading sensor, control interface, power system, and correctly installed mechanical steering cable.
Before Ordering
Confirm a compatible straight-shaft mechanical helm, standard push-pull steering cable, 210 mm behind-dash depth, required 90-degree bezel orientation, matching autopilot processor, 12V supply, 12A circuit capacity, dashboard structural support, cable bend radius, full manual steering operation, and complete autopilot-system components before purchase.
