SI-TEX MDA-2 Metadata Dual Channel Parallel AIS Receiver

Integration

The MDA-2 requires an AIS/VHF receiving antenna or approved splitter and a compatible MFD, chartplotter, computer, or mobile app. It is not a VHF voice radio, AIS transceiver, radar, GPS chartplotter, emergency beacon, or collision-avoidance system. Because it receives only, no MMSI is needed for AIS transmission through this unit.

Built-in GPS can supply position data for compatible connected systems, but AIS target reception still depends on antenna height, local VHF conditions, cable quality, interference, distance, and other vessels transmitting valid data. AIS does not display every vessel, buoy, floating object, or hazard.

Confirm desired NMEA/USB/Wi-Fi interface, MFD or mobile-app compatibility, AIS antenna or splitter requirements, available 12V/24V supply, dry mounting location, and whether receive-only AIS fits the vessel’s operating needs before ordering.
