Simrad A2004 Autopilot Control Display

The Simrad A2004 Autopilot Control Display is a professional-grade dedicated autopilot controller with a bonded 3.5-inch color display, rotary dial, and push-button controls. It is intended for commercial and professional-vessel autopilot installations using compatible Simrad course computers such as AC70 and AC80. The display gives operators a dedicated helm interface for heading adjustments, autopilot modes, and steering control; it does not operate a steering drive on its own.

The A2004 supports 12V or 24V DC installations and is listed with NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, and Ethernet connectivity. It measures 170 mm wide by 114 mm high, weighs 1.1 kg, and can be flush-, bracket-, or panel-mounted. Maximum draw is stated at 0.7A at 12V with maximum backlight. A sun cover, gasket, and power cable are included.

System Integration

The A2004 is a control interface, not a complete autopilot. It requires a compatible course computer, heading sensor, steering drive or solenoid system, rudder-feedback method, power supply, and correctly configured vessel network. It is particularly suited to commercial installations where a tactile rotary control and a dedicated display are preferred over relying solely on a multifunction display.

Plan the installation around the mounting cutout or bracket space, rear connector clearance, 12V or 24V supply, network-drop routing, front-panel weather exposure, and access to controls. Confirm whether the installed system requires NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, Ethernet, or a combination of these interfaces.
