The Simrad AP70 MK2 Autopilot Basic Pack with AC70 Computer is a professional autopilot electronics package for compatible commercial vessels, large yachts, workboats, and high-capacity steering systems. It includes the AP70 MK2 five-inch color autopilot control head and AC70 high-current course computer. A heading sensor, rudder-feedback sensor, steering drive, hydraulic pump, solenoid system, and vessel-specific installation hardware must be selected separately.

The AC70 supports 12V or 24V systems and provides up to 30A continuous drive output with up to 50A short-duration peak capacity. It can control compatible reversible hydraulic pumps, mechanical drives, solenoid systems, and constant-running pump arrangements when matched to the correct vessel steering gear. The AP70 MK2 supplies a dedicated bridge controller with configurable work modes and support for compatible heading, rudder, navigation, and thruster data.

System Integration

This is a basic autopilot electronics pack, not a finished steering system. The selected heading source determines heading accuracy, while the selected rudder-feedback sensor provides physical rudder position where required. Drive selection must consider vessel displacement, steering loads, hydraulic-cylinder volume, motor or solenoid current, pump flow, duty cycle, and manual-override requirements.

Work modes, multiple steering stations, thruster integration, route steering, and advanced navigation features depend on compatible connected equipment and correct network configuration. Commercial installations may require alarms, redundancy, changeover arrangements, class approval, and flag-state compliance beyond the components supplied in this pack.

Before Ordering

Confirm selected heading source, physical-feedback requirement, compatible steering drive or pump, hydraulic-cylinder volume and pressure where applicable, drive current and duty cycle within AC70 capacity, 12V or 24V supply, NMEA 2000 or SimNet network, NMEA 0183 requirements, AP70 MK2 panel space, dry AC70 mounting location, circuit protection, and complete vessel steering-system requirements before purchase.
