The Simrad FU80 Remote Control with Display is a dedicated follow-up, or FU, autopilot steering controller for compatible Simrad professional and commercial autopilot systems. Its spring-loaded lever commands a proportional rudder angle: move the lever to port or starboard to request rudder movement, then release it to return the lever to centre. The integrated display provides steering, rudder, and heading information from the connected autopilot system.

The FU80 connects through SimNet or NMEA 2000 Micro-C and is intended for use with compatible AC70, AC80, NAC-3, AP70, and AP80 systems. It is a remote control station only and does not include a course computer, steering drive, heading sensor, rudder-feedback unit, or hydraulic pump. The package includes a network cable and protective cover.

System Integration

The FU80 is a secondary or remote control station, not a complete autopilot. It requires a compatible Simrad course computer, heading source, steering drive, power supply, feedback arrangement where required, and installed SimNet or NMEA 2000 network. It is suitable where an operator needs direct proportional rudder control from a bridge wing, work station, or additional helm.

The lever sends commands to the autopilot computer; it does not drive the hydraulic pump, linear actuator, or steering solenoids directly. Confirm course-computer software compatibility, available network capacity, required station configuration, and operational mode permissions before adding the controller.

Before Ordering

Confirm a compatible Simrad AC70, AC80, NAC-3, AP70, or AP80 system, available SimNet or NMEA 2000 connection, supported software version, required secondary steering-station function, suitable panel or desk mounting space, 8V to 16V network supply, rear cable clearance, IPX6-appropriate exposure, and complete autopilot-system components before purchase.
