The Simrad NAC-1 Autopilot Computer is a 12V low-current course computer for compatible small-boat autopilot installations. It is designed to operate Simrad Pump-1 reversible hydraulic pumps and compatible mechanical cable-drive systems, making it suitable for correctly configured single-engine outboards and smaller vessels up to 9 m, or 30 ft. This is a course computer only and requires a separate display, heading sensor, steering drive, network, and feedback method where required.

The NAC-1 provides 8A continuous drive output and up to 16A peak output for short-duration steering loads. It connects through NMEA 2000 Micro-C and can integrate with compatible Simrad, Lowrance, or B&G multifunction displays. Virtual Rudder Feedback may be suitable for some outboard and sterndrive hydraulic systems, but physical feedback may still be needed depending on steering configuration.

System Integration

The NAC-1 does not include a display, heading sensor, hydraulic pump, mechanical drive, rudder-feedback sensor, or NMEA 2000 backbone. Select a drive based on the boat’s actual steering type, cylinder volume where applicable, steering load, power requirements, and 8A continuous output limit.

Do not use the NAC-1 for a steering drive that requires higher continuous current than the unit can supply. Larger hydraulic systems, high-current linear drives, rotary drives, and commercial steering arrangements typically require a higher-capacity course computer such as the NAC-2 or NAC-3.

Before Ordering
