Integration
The AIS 800 requires a compatible Garmin chartplotter or other supported navigation display, a compatible VHF radio, a shared VHF antenna, and valid MMSI/static vessel-data programming. It is not a VHF voice radio, chartplotter, radar, emergency beacon, or collision-avoidance guarantee.
The antenna splitter can simplify a shared VHF/AIS setup, but wiring must follow Garmin instructions and use a compatible VHF antenna/radio configuration. AIS data depends on VHF coverage and other vessels transmitting correct information. ActiveCaptain connectivity depends on compatible Garmin equipment, app support, Wi-Fi setup, and mobile-device availability.
